Description of the call:

The call for ground-breaking, interdisciplinary research projects targeting social challenges facing European societies now and in the future, financed from the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism. This IdeaLab call is for projects addressing the topic ‘Managing threats’. The IdeaLab call is part of the Basic Research Programme operated by the National Science Centre under the EEA and Norway Grants and is prepared in cooperation with the Research Council of Norway. The programme has allocated €4,434,011 for projects developed at the IdeaLab.

The programme will support bilateral or multilateral research projects involving participants from both Poland and Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein. The aim of this support is to support long-term strategic partnerships and to increase participation in "Horizon Europe".

The programme concerns projects related to the topic "Risk management". challenges arising from complex processes of our times, such as globalisation, technological changes, environmental and climate change issues, demographic change, large migration waves, instability and many others, are the Self-uncertainty (suggesting threats and, in some cases, opportunities) Facing European societies.

Deadline for submitting the applications in I stage:

19 August, 2019

Submission procedure:

The full procedure consists of three stages:

• Stage 1: Individual application to participate in a workshop IdeaLab using the participant's notification form. Applications must be submitted in a form of eketronicznej using https://idealab.ncn.gov.pl
• Stage 2: Idealab workshop in Poland-21-25 October 2019.
  Development of project ideas with other participants in the workshop and the creation of research groups, including the designation of future project managers.
  Development of project ideas by the above research groups conducted by future project managers using project-idea form - the deadline for submitting applications is 4 October 2019-2019 pm. 21:00 CEST; presentation of project ideas in front of the panel of experts and their evaluation by panel.

  Stage 3: Submission of the full application form by the applicant, i.e. The Polish research organisation with which the project manager is or will be associated - the deadline for submitting applications expires on 16 December 2019, 2019 24.00 cest.

JU internal regulations:

To apply in the competition: 

• submit until 8 August 2019 in electronic version to the address of the call supervisor at CAWP draft of Application for participation in the IdeaLab “Managing Threats” workshop (ANNEX NO 1)
• submit until 8 August 2019 a statement form the host institution printed and signed by the head of the unit (ANNEX NO 3)

I would like to point out that sending a notification to https://idealab.ncn.gov.pl is a irreparable operation, which will make subsequent changes. Therefore, the notification should be sent only after signature on the printed version of the host institution's statement. Scan of The Document Signed by the JU authorities will be submitted by the call supervisor from CAWP.
