Subject of the call:

Call for co-financing of projects under the TANGO V Joint Undertaking, which aims to build a bridge between basic research and industrial research and development works.

Applications may be submitted to the NCBiR from 1 February to 30 June 2021 (until 4:00 p.m.), divided into rounds, i.e. by:

1) round I: from 1 February to 30 April 2021,

2) round II: from 1 May to 30 June 2021 (until 4:00 p.m.).

Basic information about the call for proposals:

  1. Applications under the competition may be submitted by:

research units (independently) - path A,

consortia of research units and enterprises - max. 3 entities (the consortium must include at least one enterprise and at least one research unit, only a research unit can be a consortium leader) - path B and C.

  1. The competition is not limited by subject.
  2. As part of the competition, it is possible to obtain funding for the implementation of:
    • conceptual works,
    • R&D works including: industrial research and / or development works.
  3. As part of the TANGO V competition, works will be financed including:
  • determining the possibilities of economic use of the obtained results of research,
  • conducting market analyzes, diagnosing the need for solutions being the subject of the project,
  • activities aimed at acquiring a partner interested in research and development cooperation and the implementation of project results,
  • development of a strategy and implementation of activities aimed at securing the rights to intellectual property protection of research results,
  • industrial research,
  • development works.
  1. Application paths in the TANGO V call:
  • as part of the call, you can receive funding for the implementation of the project under path A, B or C,
  • the basis for submitting an application under path A and C is a base project, i.e. a research project covering basic research, financed under one of the national or international NCN calls (excluding the calls: ETIUDA, FUGA, UWERTURA and MINIATURA), the results of which constitute the basis for submitting an application under the call,
  • the basis for submitting an application in path B is a project previously financed under I, II, III or IV (under path A) of the TANGO competition. 

Path A - rules:

  • financing will include concept works and research and development works,
  • only research units may be the applicant,
  • the maximum amount of co-financing is 250,000 PLN, (including a maximum of 150,000 PLN for R&D works, if the project includes them),
  • the maximum project implementation period is 15 months.

Path B - rules:

  • based on the results of the project previously financed under the I, II, III or IV (only path A) of the TANGO call,
  • financing will include industrial research and development work, based on the results of a project previously financed under the TANGO joint venture,
  • only consortia consisting of research units and entrepreneurs will be eligible. Only a research unit may be the project leader,
  • the maximum amount of co-financing for the project is 3 million PLN,
  • the share of eligible costs of the enterprise / enterprises in the total eligible costs of the project is at least 20%,
  • the maximum project implementation period is 36 months.

Path C - rules:

  • financing will include industrial research and development work as well as conceptual work,
  • only consortia consisting of research units and entrepreneurs will be eligible. Only a research unit may be the project leader,
  • the maximum amount of co-financing is PLN 3 million (including a maximum of 100,000 PLN for conceptual works, if the project includes them),
  • the share of eligible costs of the enterprise / enterprises in the total eligible costs of the project is at least 20%,
  • the maximum project implementation period is 36 months.

Form of submitting applications:

  • The application should be prepared and then submitted only in the electronic version in the LSI system.
  • The application should be accompanied by attachments in the form of a scanned copy of a hand-signed document or a document bearing a qualified electronic signature.

Internal regulations of the Jagiellonian University:

  1. In connection with the provisions of the project co-financing agreement under paths B and C, assuming joint and several liability of partners for the implementation of the project, it obliges authors / project managers to submit their willingness to participate in the competition earlier.

Initial declarations of participation in the call with information including the title of the project, the planned consortium composition, the scope of work for the Jagiellonian University and the planned budget (including parts for the Jagiellonian University), please submit by e-mail to the address of the call supervisor at CAWP at least one month before the planned date of submitting the application to the NCBiR.

On the basis of your declarations, the JU authorities will make a decision on further application in the competition. The CAWP call supervisor will inform the JU Authorities about the decision.

After obtaining approval for the planned project, in accordance with the Jagiellonian University Rector’s Directive No. 56 on 11 July 2016 on the rules of procedure for the preparation and implementation at the JU of projects financed from external sources, please submit to the CAWP:

  • by 16 April this year until 12.00 (in case of round I) and by 16 June this year until 12.00 (in case of round II) to Mr. Tomasz Guzik, tomasz.d.guzik@uj.edu.pl, phone no. 12 663 38 52,
  •  draft agreement, if the JU acts as a partner in the project and the leader has his own agreement template,
  •  guidelines for agreement, when the JU is the leader of the project, in order to prepare a model agreement for the consortium,
  • by 22 April this year (in case of round I) and by 21 June this year (in case of round II):
  • Research Project Application and VAT Eligibility Form in the project, completed and submitted in the electronic system Strefa Projektów UJ available at: https://strefaprojektow.uj.edu.pl/

Instructions for filling in the forms are available at: https://cawp.uj.edu.pl/strefaprojektow,

  • a draft version of the application with the required attachments (electronic version of the application in the form of a PDF file, sent to the address of the supervisor of the competition at CAWP),
  • by 27 April this year (in case of round I) and by 27 June this year by 12.00 (in case of round II):
  • the final version of the application, i.e. the full version of the application (electronic version sent as a PDF file with a qualified signature or acceptance by e-mail or in the form of a scan with signatures) - required signatures: Project manager and the head of the unit where the project will be implemented (i.e. the Dean of or depending on the specificity of the unit).

An electronic application may be sent in the LSI system only after approval by the JU authorities. The application signed by the JU authorities will be sent to the e-mail addresses provided by you by the call supervisor at CAWP.
