The FNP has announced a new Call for Applications

Purpose of the call for proposals:

Distinguish the most talented young scientists and encourage them to continue their scientific development by allowing them to fully devote themselves to research.

Pursuant to the regulations applicable to candidates applying for the next competition, the scholarship may be awarded only once.

Recipients:

Outstanding young scholars with significant successes in their field of science who:

have a track record of publications (articles in recognized scientific periodicals or books);

are doctoral students or doctors in Poland or carry out R&D * work in Poland in an entity whose statutory goals are to conduct scientific research or development work;

are under the age of 30 in the year of application (candidates born in 1990 or later may apply for the scholarship in the next competition). This age may be extended in the following cases:

  • due to the birth or adoption of a child, the age is extended in the case of women who gave birth to a child or persons who adopted a child, by 1 year for each child, regardless of the date of birth or adoption of the child,
  • due to a break in research work for a maximum of 2 years, while the age is extended by all documented periods of breaks in the conduct of scientific research lasting a total of not less than 12 months in the case of applying for an extension for one year, or not less than 24 months in the case of apply for an extension for two years.
  • R&D works (the so-called research and development works) are systematically conducted creative works undertaken in order to increase the amount of knowledge, including knowledge about people, culture and society, as well as to find new applications for this knowledge.

They include three types of work:

  • basic research - theoretical and experimental work not oriented in principle at obtaining specific applications;
  • applied research - research work undertaken in order to acquire new knowledge with specific applications;
  • experimental development - works involving the application of existing knowledge to develop new or significant improvements to existing products, services and processes.

In previous years, the amount of the annual scholarship was PLN 28,000. In the upcoming competition, the Foundation will award approximately 100 annual scholarships.

WATCH OUT! According to the START competition regulations, the scholarship can be obtained only once.

The FNP will also consider applications submitted to the START competition in the competition for Prof. Barbara Skarga Scholarship. A scholarship holder in this competition may be someone whose research is distinguished by boldly crossing boundaries among various fields of science, opening new research perspectives, and creating new values in science. Such a person’s scholarship will also be increased.
